During the experimental run of 1991 a small leak developed beneath the aquifer in the main beam transport vacuum tube for the Proton experimental area. Water began leaking in the pipe which threaten to end the experimental run for all the experiments in the proton area. This inspired the developed a device that cleaned the leak area and installed an epoxy patch. This epoxy patch remained leak tight for the remainder of the experiential run. Before the next experimental run a permanent solution was developed called VRW.
